From the designer:

Cascading sets of twin leaves make the most of a 165 gram five-color gradient set from Black Trillium Fibres (shawl), or a single 100g continuous gradient from Canon Hand Dyes (shawlette). The knitting begins at the leafy edging, then continues its way up through a short row crescent shaping. Two leaves adorn the top of the shawl, and are set off by a line of shell lace that adds a pop of unexpected color. Beads are optional, but highly recommended for sparkle and drape.

Errata on original shawl pattern: Color C, Decreasing Leaves section, row 17 should read:

Row 17: K2, (ssk, k15, p1, k15, k2tog) to last 2 sts, k2.
(The chart should also indicate two fewer stitches, one at each end of the repeat.)
