Twilight Lace Wrap
Inspired by the lace pattern on a scarf worn by a Russian emigree in Boston, MA
Lace wrap is knit at a larger than normal gauge for this yarn.
Originally published in Interweave Knits, Winter 1999/2000 as Twilight Lace and republished in Interweave Knits, Holiday Gifts 2006 as Twilight Lace Wrap.
Pattern Description from Interweave Online Store: “Five stitches are knit together to create the “stars” that inspired this romantic scarf. The V-shaped points on each end help the scarf to fall more gracefully over the body than scarves knitted in the more usual rectangular shape.“
Finished Size: About 13½“ (34.5 cm) wide and 72” (183 cm) long, blocked.
Yarn: K1C2 Douceur et Soie (70% baby mohair, 30% silk; 225 yd [205 m]/25 g): #100 white, 2 balls. Small amount of contrasting waste yarn.
Yarn weight: #1 - Super Fine
Gauge:
- 15 sts and 24 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter st, unstretched
- 13 sts and 23 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter st, stretched and blocked.
Needles: Size 9 (5.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle; rust-free pins.
