Tweel Cowl / Infinity Scarf
Inspired by traditional herringbone tweed fabric, two color tapestry colorwork mimics a herringbone pattern in this cosy cowl which can also be made as a longer infinity scarf. Tweel is the Scots word for twill and thanks to an error made by a London cloth merchant, we have tweed fabrics and not tweel fabrics!
Skill Level: This is an intermediate project using tapestry colorwork. Yarn management and color changes may be challenging for a beginner crocheter.
Sizes: This pattern includes instructions for a small cowl or a longer infinity scarf which can be wrapped around your neck twice.
Yardage: The small cowl uses approx 100yds/92m of the main color and 65yds/60m of the coordinating color. The large infinity scarf uses approx 220yds/202m of main color and 130yds/120m of coordinating color.
Finished Measurements: Small cowl measures 9.5” x 7.5” (24cm x 19cm) and long infinity scarf measures 21” x 7.5” (53cm x 19cm)
Yarn: Recommended yarn is Walcot Yarn Opus DK which I measure to be 15 wpi. It is a Merino and Alpaca blend.
This pattern has been shortlisted in the unravel… a festival of yarn 2020 design competition. The winning pattern will be launched at unravel as part of their show guide during the festival on 21-23 February 2020.
