Twartree
Hexagonal colour piece which can be used as a brooch, hair decoration, or join several together to make a bigger piece, for example a shoulder wrap. The hexagon is worked from the wide edge into the centre. Short double pointed needles are best - stitches spread equally over three needles with a fourth working needle.
It is a good way of using up small amounts of yarn, and for experimenting with colour.
3.00 mm needles give perfect size for a brooch or hair decoration. 3.5mm needles could be used for pieces to be joined together.
No more than 5 or 6 colours need to be used for each hexagon. It looks good in just 2 colours too, and that can be useful for practising knitting in the round with two colours.
