Tulle Shawl
Crescent shawl, simple garter stitch body and beautiful lace border. Knitting pattern for adventurous beginners.

Snowflakes, flowers, and fairies. The iconic ballerina’s tutu is the stuff of dreams. A foam of soft netting, magnificently embellished to emphasise the dancer’s beauty and grace, it’s usually the first image we think of when we hear the word “ballet”. There’s something inherently magical about the floaty nature of tulle. Even in a little girl’s party dress, a few layers is enough to inspire hours of twirling, spinning and swooping.
The Tulle Shawl was inspired by an exquisite tutu, lovely enough for the Sugar Plum Fairy herself. The garter stitch base makes for relaxing knitting at a busy time of year, and while the elegant lace looks intricate and impressive, it’s actually straightforward to knit! This is a wonderful single-skein project in fingering weight yarn: perfect for a special bit of stash or a gentle speckle. Optional beads offer a chance for a little glitter: dazzling under the stage lights.
