Tube: A super-simple slipper sock
The easiest slipper sock you’ll ever knit! Knit in a thick and cozy wool to beat the winter chill. No short rows, gussets or kitchener stitch. One skein each in two of Quince’s 60+ amazing colors will make a pair of slippers up to a men’s US size 12. Knit a pair in your favorite college student’s school colors.
The purl stitch is so often overlooked as nothing more than the wrong side of knitting, but those pretty interlocking arches and wells have a grace all their own. Single-row stripes give special attention to these pretty purl rows.
Finished Size About 9.5” (24 cm) foot circumference and 18.5” (47 cm) length to fit a U.S. women’s 8–9 shoe size, adjustable.
Yarn Quince & Co. Osprey (100% American wool): Audouin (natural; A), Shell (light rose; B), 1 skein each.
Needles Size U.S. 8 (5 mm) and U.S. 6 (4 mm): set of 5 double-pointed needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Stitch marker; yarn needle. Gauge 15 stitches and 19 rounds = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette stitch with larger needles.
Note These socks are worked from the top down with the knit side facing, then turned purl side out.
