Tsaritsa Severa
Tsarista Severa, Empress of the North, is an old rose from 1860´s grown in the St. Petersburg Academy of Science by Regel. The rose was grown from seeds which botanist K. J. Maximowicz collected from Japan.
The pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be modified for double pointed needles. Needle A refers to instep stitches and needle B to sole stitches.
The sample sock was knitted toe up, on cuff down version the pattern is upside down due the nature of lace knitting.
Yarn:
100 g of fingering weight yarn, app. 420 m (440 yds)/100g. The sample socks were knitted with CoopKnits Socks Yeah! in colourway Ruby, 211m/231 yds per 50g.
Needles etc:
80 cm/ 32 inches long or longer 2.75 mm/ US 2 circular needle or to meet the gauge
tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
36 sts x 48 rows = 10 x 10 cm/ 4 x 4 inches in stockinette stitch after blocking.
