Truncated Triangle
I love the look of triangle shaped shawls using gradient yarn, but wanted something that had the same width, but less depth. I visualized hacking off the bottom of a triangle, leaving a saw tooth edge. The pattern is set up to use separate skeins of yarn instead of a continuous gradient skein, allowing you to customize your creation.
The shawl is worked from the top of the center triangle, then out to one side; the yarn is reattached on the other side of the triangle to work the second side.
The shawl can be worked using:
3 Main Colors and 1 Contrasting Color
o MC1 = 95yds/87m, 1.2oz/35g
o MC2 = 190yds/174m, 2.5oz/70g
o MC3 = 50yds/46m, 0.7oz/20g
o CC = 175yds/160m, 2.3oz/65g
or
1 Main Color and 1 Contrasting Color
or
1 Solid Color
If you prefer, use Worsted Weight yarn for less aggressive blocking and a more solid looking piece. One sample used Bayley Althea Designs Hand dyed.
