Trøst
Pattern will be available for purchase Friday March 20th, 2026.
Preliminary price: $8 until March 27th, 2026.
After March 27th, the pattern will be $9.
Trøst’s generous wingspan is easy to style, wear, and feels like a warm comforting hug. The shawl features a diagonal basketweave, a tidy knit-purl edge and tapers at both ends. Paired with CaMaRose’s fluffy Snefnug, the stitch and yarn are a lovely match. Hope you enjoy this knit as much as I have.
SIZE one size
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
14.75” / 36.75 cm depth at centre, 98.5” /
246.25 cm wingspan, measured at top edge.
MATERIALS
ARAN WEIGHT YARN: 6 skeins CaMaRose
Snefnug (55% Alpaca, 35% Cotton, 10% Extra
Fine Merino, 120 yds / 110 m – 1.76 oz. / 50 g)

an equivalent yarn.
SUGGESTED NEEDLE SIZE
US 10.5 / 6.5 mm needles, 40” / 100 cm long circular needles to knit the shawl. Or needle size needed to meet the pattern’s gauge. A match in gauge will yield a similar resulting item to the photographed sample.
NOTIONS: cable needle or a DPN (in the same
size needle you are using to knit the shawl) or
a removable stitch marker to work the 1/1
cable crosses, blunt end tapestry needle,
scissors.
GAUGE
24 sts x 16 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 x 10 cm, after
blocking, in diagonal basketweave stitch
pattern. Block as recommended washing
instructions on the label/ball band of the yarn.

NOTE ABOUT YARN: Snefnug has been the ideal yarn for the basketweave stitch. That said, I’m in the process of sampling other yarn in a similar construction / yarn combinations as a matter of exploration but also to have personal understanding of other yarn bases that will pair beautifully with the stitch sequence. I will include other yarn suggestions once I have had the chance to work through a few different bases. :yellow_heart:
This has been a quick swatch-to-published-pattern process for me. Thank you to everyone for the love and joy you expressed for the design.
