Trellis Jumper
TRELLIS JUMPER
Knitting is derived from the word ‘knot’ and is the process of using two of more needles to create a fabric made of a series of loops. Loops and loops and more loops combine to make something wearable. Here is Trellis Jumper.
A simple shape worked as follows: start by working flat to create a rotated-stitches hem then join in the round and work the front and back in the round. The bottom section of the jumper is worked in trellis stitch and the top section in stocking stitch. Split to work front and back sections separately, graft the shoulder seams together before working sleeves. The sleeves are working from cuff to shoulder seam. Again work the rotated-stitch cuff flat and then join in the round to work the rest of the sleeves. The sleeves are slightly different; the trellis stitch is worked at the end of one sleeve and half way down the other. Join the sleeves to sleeve-opening on body of work by over-sewing (whip stitching) them together. This creates a neat and interesting seam.
