This design is part of the Head-turning Hats ebook. These warm and soft chunky hats are designed to encourage even couch potatoes into the great outdoors this winter. In small, medium and large sizes, there’s sure to be a design here for everyone you know, from the traditional Rambler and Hiker to the trendy Trekker.
This collection of 8 designs (6 of which can either be knitted flat or in the round) are great stashbusters too - use leftovers for pompoms, cords and tassels.

Trekker is a quirky hood which is knitted flat and seamed. The knitting starts with k1, p1 rib earflaps before joining to work around the head. A separate top piece is sewn onto the main body before picking up stitches to create the front edging. Finally, twisted cords and tassels are attached so that the earflaps can be tied for added warmth. Trekker features a simple stranded diamond pattern worked from a chart or written instructions.
