Variegated skeins are so beautiful to look at, but not always easy to work with. Their uniqueness lends to their beauty, but also necessitates alternating skeins to avoid pooling or differences in dyeing. I wanted a shawl that highlighted these skeins; yet allowed for simplicity in the knitting (i.e. no alternating necessary). Thus, I designed Treis; a shawl that consists of two variegated skeins and a contrasting semisolid skein. It is a simple, asymmetric triangle with mostly garter stitch that highlights the “twists and turns” of the yarns’ palette followed by a simple lace section to show off the semisolid.
