The Treevolution scarf is a concerto in three movements. Long, elegant and sophisticated, widening at one end into an unconventional yet graceful silhouette, this is a scarf unlike most.

The first, narrower, section is gnarly and twisted and complex: randomly placed elements within the texture of the double-knitted-brioche structure give an organic, chaotic effect, which looks a lot like the bark of a tree.

Out of this wild, unrestrained freedom, the apparent chaos evolves into order, and the tumbling bark-like patterns coalesce and conform, coming at last, neatly into line, signifying the sinuous branches of our tree, for a tree it most definitely is.These branches grow ever upwards, uniformly, maturely, and sensibly, as the eye works its way along the middle section of the scarf.

In the final movement of my double-knitted-brioche concerto, the majestic third section bursts into bloom: an array of blossoms emerges from the branches in delicate, undulating waves, and, echoing the canopy of a real tree, the scarf widens and splays at this point, until it reaches its triumphant finale, in the form of a ruffled flounce, for extra texture and impact.
