Travajo Tejido
Travajo Tejido or Sacred Works, is inspired by a friend’s story of his Aztec heritage. Using bright colors that represented the bright culture of the Aztecs, I wanted to create a hat that would emulate his story.
The hat is knitted in the round, starting off with twisted ribbing, then moving into Fair Isle. The pattern is charted and worked 5 times to create the hat. The hat can be easily made larger or smaller by going up or down a needle size.
Helpful tip: when carrying the yarn for a fair bit, wrap the contrasting color every 5 stitches. Be sure to not knit too tightly, this will cause puckering of the fabric.
Dos Tierras has enough yardage that it will make 2 hats by reversing the main colors.
Techniques used:
- knitting in the round
- twisted ribbing
- chart reading
- Fair Isle/stranding work
12/12/17: Updated the pattern to make the decrease portion a little more easier.
