Tranquil Waters Cowl
Please see the matching Tranquil Waters Hat.
I find the interlacing cables on this cowl soothing to look at and addictive to knit. The fabric of this cowl is knitted flat then seamed. Each of the 4 ways of folding this cowl present the cables in different locations when worn.
This cowl is knit with two fingering weight yarns held together to form a squishy worsted weight fabric. It will feel like you are knitting a short (30 in/ 75 cm) scarf that will be seamed together in an unusual way. This small accessory provides a double layer of warmth zipped into the top of your coat. Or wear it over the collar of your coat to display your beautiful knitting technique. I also wear mine indoors for to brighten up my outfits.
This cowl is part of a Flowing Marls e-book that teaches the Fission Knitting technique. The Flowing River Cowl/Hat are the easiest in the set and you will learn 2 new cable stitches. The Tranquil Waters Cowl/Hat teach 2 more cables stitches. For the Confluence Cowl, you will layer the motifs from the first two designs on top of teach other to create a reversible cabled design. There is a lot of cabling in these patterns; some experience with cables is helpful but not required. Fission Knitting Tutorials of the cable stitches are provided.
Marianated Yarns Practicality has the ideal construction for Fission Knitting & yardage generous enough to make both a cowl & hat from 2 skeins . Marianated Yarns has put together some great colour combinations for these projects.
