Townhouses in The Netherlands are often narrow, long and tall - skinny houses so to speak. They stretch upwards reaching for the sky. Many townhouses built centuries ago have elaborate gables. A popular style back then was the step gable. These are characterized by a series of steps on each side rising to meet in the center. The steps are often topped with white sandstone blocks.
The Townhouse cowl is inspired by these skinny townhouses and is a play of stitches in two colors that form shapes reminiscent of step gables. The colorwork uses mosaic knitting. Large wooden beads serve as attention grabbers and as buttons to close the cowl. Get ready to stroll along the bending canals of Amsterdam: Join the fun and dive right into mosaic!

Did you always want to try out mosaic knitting? Then this pattern is for you! The Urbanology cowl pattern comes with a video tutorial to learn how to work mosaic stitches and how to read mosaic charts. Of course, the written instructions are also included so that you can choose and have the Urbanology cowl your way.
