The hat with the broad brim is knitted in rounds from the bottom up to the crown. It starts with a ribbing that blends into the cable pattern. The cable pattern repeats until the hat reaches the desired length.
The crown is formed by regular decreases. Cable patterns are charted.

Needles and gauge information:
Size 1: 24 sts x 32 rows in rib stitch with needle 3,5 mm (US 4)
28 sts x 32 rows in cable pattern with needle 4 mm (US 6)
Size 2: 24 sts x 30 rows in rib stitch with needle 4 mm (US 6)
26 sts x 32 rows in cable pattern with needle 4,5 mm (US 7)

Both sizes will be knit with the same stitch count, while needle sizes vary (see above gauge information). The bigger size is knit with thicker needles. To make sure the hat will fit your head: please prepare a gauge!

Yarn information:
I used Pascuali Camel DK for the hat (100% baby camel wool): this voluminous, elastic chain yarn perfectly showcases the cable pattern.
As an alternative, you can also use any other DK yarn that meets the indicated gauge.

Die Mütze mit dem breiten Rand wird vom Bündchen aus nach oben gestrickt. Aus dem Rippenbündchen entsteht das Zopfmuster. Die Krone der Mütze formt sich durch gleichmäßige Abnahmen, die ebenfalls in einem separaten Chart beschrieben sind.

Maschenprobe:
Gr. 1:
24 M x 32 Rd. im Bündchenmuster mit Nadelstärke 3,5 mm
28 M x 32 Rd. im Zopfmuster mit Nadelstärke 4 mm
Gr. 2:
24 M x 30 Rd. im Bündchenmuster mit Nadelstärke 4 mm
26 M x 32 Rd. im Zopfmuster mit Nadelstärke 4,5 mm

Beide Größen werden mit den gleichen Maschenzahlen gestrickt, jedoch mit unterschiedlicher Nadelstärke (s. Angaben zur Maschenprobe oben). Die größere Mütze wird mit dickeren Nadeln gestrickt.
Unbedingt eine Maschenprobe machen, um sicherzustellen, dass die Mütze gut passt!

Wollnadel zum Vernähen der Fäden, Zopfnadel, 5 Maschenmarkierer (davon evtl. .1 andersfarbiger zum Markieren des Rundenbeginns),

Garninformation:
Im Original habe ich die Mütze aus Pascuali Camel DK gestrickt (100% Kamelwolle): dieses voluminöse, elastische Kettgarn bringt das Muster ideal zur Geltung.
Alternativ eignet sich aber auch jedes Garn in DK-Stärke, mit dem die angegebene Maschenprobe erreicht wird.
