The story of Rumpelstiltskin is one fraught with mystery and suspense. That little devil of a creature thinks he’s got the high hand on the poor miller’s daughter, but she outwits him in the end. And don’t we all love a smart “shrewd and clever” young lass? Yes we do!

When the Toad Hollow ladies asked me to design something in this gorgeous gold colorway I was intrigued and took my inspiration from the miller’s daughter -- clothed in a long skirt but with an over-dress. (see my project page for a photo.) I love wearing a good tunic, especially with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans and this design fits the bill. Drapey with a bit of flow, knit in DK weight yarn, with the option for a long (mid-thigh) or short (hip length) version. This tunic should fit the bill for your fall, winter or spring wearing adventures.

PATTERN NOTES: There are 3 decorative Fisherman’s rib stitches on the front and back of the tunic. There are also 5 decorative Fisherman’s Rib stitches at the side seams. Knitters may choose to cast on a larger size for the hips and then decrease down to a smaller size for the bust. This is a checklist pattern; each row is written out for ease of execution (which also means the pattern is longer than usual). There are 2 length variations offered, short = hip or long = mid-thigh. There is also an option for a fuller empire waist version. (see photo)
