GENERAL INFORMATION:
This shawl is an asymmetric triangle knitted sideways from a few cast on stitches finishing with a broad mosaic (slipped stitch) border. There are a couple of options for this shawl. It can be knitted almost entirely in stockinette stitch for a smooth shawl and defined mosaic or for those who hate to purl there is a garter stitch version that gives a more textured feel. The front cover photo shows the shawl in stockinette.
Yarn choice: When choosing your colours, it is important to have a good contrast between the MC and CC such as light vs dark or very different colours. Resist the temptation to buy two yarns that complement each other because they share colours in common as the pattern will be quickly lost.

MATERIALS:
Yarn:
MC: Sock weight, 565 m / 618 yds.
CC: Sock weight, 221 m / 242 yds.

Needles and notions:
3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle minimum 32 inches / 80 cm long, or size required to obtain gauge (main needles).
3.75 mm (US 5) circular needle minimum 32 inches / 80 cm long, or required to obtain gauge in mosaic pattern..
Needle to sew in ends.

GAUGE:
24 sts and 28 rows in stockinette st, and 24 sts and 44 rows in mosaic pattern, to 4 inches / 10 cm after blocking.
It’s important that the number of sts to 4 inches / 10 cm is the same for both stockinette st and mosaic pattern. You may need a larger needle for the mosaic pattern.

SIZE:
Wingspan: 80 inches / 200 cm, depth: 22 inches / 55 cm (approximately).
