Tit Mitts
These mittens are officially called the “If I Want Exposure, I’ll Get My Tits Out (Brrr, Cold!)” mittens, but unfortunately that was a tad to much for Ravelry. Whilst designing these we lovingly shortened the name to the “Tit Mitts” (the full name is a bit of a mouthful!), so that’s what they’ll now be known by here on Ravelry as well!
These “Tit Mitts” were designed as part of the #Titsoutcollective inspired by Countess Ablaze. From the launch on July 1st until the 1st of August hundreds of indie dyers, designers and makers sold colourways, patterns and other cool items for charity! These mittens raised money for Plan Nederland, a Dutch charity.. For more information about this charity please check out their website, https://www.plannederland.nl (Dutch only unfortunately!)
Thanks to your purchases the Tit Mitts have managed to raise €100 for Plan Nederland!
Getting your tits out can be chilly! These mittens will help protect you from exposure, whilst exposing! The “Brrr, Cold!” mittens are available in a fingerless version as well as a full mitten. The mittens feature a stranded boob pattern. The mittens would knit up perfectly in one of the #Titsoutcollective yarns or in an assortment of mini skeins or leftovers.
The pattern is available in one size: it has a wrist circumference of 6.5” (16,5 cm) and a hand circumference of 7” (18 cm). You can change the size of the mittens by using bigger or smaller needles or using a heavier or lighter yarn.
Gauge is 9 stitches per inch and 11 rows per inch in stockinette on smaller needles. Gauge is 9 stitches per inch and 9 rows per inch in stranded pattern on larger needles.
The sample was knit using a Wol Met Verve Basic Sock in a OOAK colourway (100 grams/420 meters (460 yards); 75% wool/25%nylon) as MC and Lang Jawoll Superwash in 94 Offwhite (50 grams/210 meters (230 yards); 75% wool/25% nylon) as CC. I used about 210 meters of MC and 110 meters of CC for one pair of mittens.
Materials:
• 250 meters (273 yards) of fingering weight yarn in MC.
• 150 meters (164 yards) of fingering weight yarn in CC.
• 2.5 mm (US 1.5) double pointed or circular needles.
• 2.75 (US 2) double pointed or circular needles.
• Tapestry needle.
Colourwork is charted.
