When I first discovered The Heathen Housewife’s (Shelly Kang) Blankie Tutorial, I was inspired to translate the techniques into a short scarf using sock yarn. The small size of the squares means each only uses 2.5 g of yarn. When using variegated sock yarn, each square turns out different than its neighbour.
This pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner and can be worked in any fingering weight yarn. It is particularly suited to variegated or handpainted sock yarns but would be equally attractive in solid coloured yarn.
Pattern is 3 pages.
Gauge: each mitred square is 3” x 3” from point to point across diamond.
Yarn A: 460 yards fingering weight yarn
Yarn B: 88 to 175 yards fingering weight yarn
Skills Required:
- Mitred squares
- Picking up stitches from an edge
- Attached i-cord
Hard (paper) copies of this pattern may be available from your local yarn shop. Please contact them for more details.
