Sometimes, for me, the most difficult aspect of designing is naming the pattern. This design started out as a doodle on scrap paper. As I kept drawing, the design grew more complex….what I ended up with was this pattern that looks like windmills to me. I was awake for hours thinking of a good name. at one point, when I was waaaay too tired, I thought of
Been Through the Dessert Wearing Socks with No Name. But, the more I looked at them, the more I thought of the windmill cookies I had when I was a kid. Remember those? Windmills stuck, and I thought of Don Quixote. Thus the name that won out. I used Valley Yarn’s Charlemont for the natural, and I recommend using a contrasting color of the same wool for the background. Persimmon Tree Farm is nice yarn, but it’s hard to get as she doesn’t sell online. So, make your color choices and slay that windmill sock giant!
