Tiki Toucan
Tiki is a cute little toucan with tons of character.
With his wonderfully colorful beak, his soft and lovable body, and the fact that he is never noisy, he just might be the perfect bird.
Standing about 6 inches tall, worked mostly in black with small pops of color for that bright beak, he is a quick and cheerful knit.
Tiki is knit seamlessly in the round using standard increases and decreases and a 3-needle bind-off.
You will need less than one skein of black plus small amounts of various colors for the beak, so he is a great way to use up bits of bright yarn.
Skill level: Intermediate
Techniques: knit in the round, seamless, increases and decreases, 3-needle bind off
As an early childhood educator, I have a soft spot for a toy that starts conversations. That rainbow beak is an easy invitation to name colors together, and a bird that is “never noisy” is a gentle bit of humor for any grown-up who has lived with a louder toy or two.
