I originally had the idea for this pattern after looking at my yarn stash and realizing I had a lot of one-off fingering/sock weight yarns in similar (but not exactly the same) colors.

Holding three strands together creates a bulkier project that works up faster while adding depth and interest to the color selection. Sweaters are such a classic hand knit item, and I think working with three strands at once gives it a fun twist!

This pattern is worked in four panels and then assembled using mattress stitch. The instructions employ fairly basic techniques including: K2tog, P2tog, SSK, and KFB. The “Three Strand Sweater Pattern” is appropriate for adventurous beginners looking to cast on a garment, and for more advanced knitters in search of a chill project.
