Three Ring
While setting up the color and texture charts for this pattern, my notebook started to overflow. This girl’s spring top seems to be very random and complicated, but, much like the three ring circus it’s named for, it is actually really well planned and not random at all. I picked up the ‘random’ striping technique from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee’s ‘Tiptoe Through the Tulips’ sock pattern. Beyond setting up the sequence for color and stripe thickness I added a third variable, which was the garter texture. A little clever timing allows the garter to form nice, flat neck, bottom, and sleeve hems.
Errata
In the Color Texture Sequence the yarn color numbers are off. The C2 was used twice and should have only been used once.
It should read:
Work subsequent yarns in this sequence:
C2: knit 4 rounds.
C3: knit 8 [8, 10, 10] rounds.
C1: knit 2 rounds.
C2: knit 6 rounds.
The colors should continue to cycle C1, C2, C3.
