Three Reversible Scarves
by Mary Rhodes
These three classic designs all use (knit 1, purl 1) for the basic fabric and are completely reversible. The first is a simple 1x1 rib, so it looks like stockinette on both sides, but it lies flat. The second uses the 1x1 rib base and includes cables. The third has a bigger cable and uses a background of seed stitch, which is still all about (knit 1, purl 1). Each scarf here is about 60 inches long, which is a perfectly respectable length for scarves, and 6-8 inches wide. A handy length for a scarf is to make it as long as the person it is for is tall. Depending on how tall the person is you are knitting for, you can make the scarf longer or shorter.
These scarves are made using worsted or Aran weight yarn and US size 9 needles.
