The iconic Forth Bridge just outside Edinburgh seemed an obvious candidate to be turned into crochet. The mathematics of the structure were just begging to be incorporated in a pattern somehow. It was only years later, watching the third Queensferry Crossing gradually rise from the water (on infrequent trips to Scotland) that I finally realised how I could turn this into a design including all three bridges.

I have made a super massive blanket (71 x 79 inches) - approximately 200cm by 180cm, big enough to cover a double bed. It would also make a good wall hanging.

This pattern has full instructions with photos for using the C2C technique, but you could also use the charts for sc tapestry crochet, cross stitch, knitting…. You could just make a section of it or use finer yarn to make a smaller version. I was just a bit obsessed with getting in all the arches. Please consider using natural materials rather than acrylic or polyester.

The pattern includes the full chart and also horizontal sections, and vertical sections.

To make it the same as me you will need: Drops Cotton Merino in - Navy (08) 10 balls; Turquoise Blue (26) 8 balls; Sea Green (29) 8 balls; Jeans Blue (16) 7 balls; Ice Blue (9) 7 balls; Red (06) 5 balls; Off White (01); Coral (13) 2 balls; Pink (5) 2 balls; Lilac (4) 2 balls; Yellow (15) 1 ball; Grey (18) 2 balls; Dark Grey (19) 1 ball.
