The cowl uses a stitch pattern adapted from the Sylvia cardigan, based on Chippendale trellis with Norwegian style motifs. The use of travelling colourwork as a design feature independent of shaping needs was inspired by the wonderful work of fellow designer, Kieran Foley.

The book includes illustrated tutorials for stranded colourwork and the increases used in this pattern.
