Thistledown is a delicately beautiful, asymmetrical lace shawl worked from one tip to one side edge. Increases are made along one edge which then becomes the wingspan. An arching lace pattern evolves organically into thistle lace, ending with a wildflower knot border. Worked with one strand of mohair held with one strand of fingering wool yarn, Thistledown feels as lovely as it looks.
Skill level: intermediate to advanced. Charts are used, with corresponding written instructions.
Sizes: Medium (69” wingspan), Large (73” wingspan)
Yardage: 700 (850) yds each fingering-weight wool and lace-weight mohair/silk
