The Hand-Knitted “Thelma” Beret

A CHIC LITTLE CAP THAT CAN BE QUICKLY KNITTED

THE close-fitting berets and caps that are all the rage this season look specially smart when knitted and made up with ribbon band and trimming. The “Thelma” design, depicted on this page is most becoming and chic and will take next to no time to make.

Materials: 2 oz. Paton’s Super Scotch fingering wool, 4-ply—the original was worked with Marl (No. 4592). Two No. 8 knitting needles, 1¼ yds. Petersham ribbon.

Measurement: Width all round brim, 20 inches.

Work at a tension to produce 6½ stitches to the inch, measured over the plain smooth fabric.
