The Woodsman
The sweater features a boxy silhouette with modified drop shoulder sleeves, and a simple ribbed collar. The sweater is knit flat in pieces, seamed together, and then the neckband stitches are picked up and knit in ribbing. The body is worked in an easy textured knit/purl stitch. The sweater features modified dropped shoulders, with slightly set-in sleeves for a slightly less bulky look.
The sample was knit with 2” of positive ease, but due to the somewhat stretchy nature of the textured pattern, it can be knit with a more form-fitting silhouette if preferred; select a finished chest circumference with 0 or less inches of ease to your actual body measurements.
The character of The Woodsman appears in many fairy tales. In many, like Hansel and Gretel, he is a paternal figure, although in others, like Little Red Riding Hood, he takes on more of a heroic quality. In almost all the tales The Woodsman appears in, he is noted for his axe and his ability to disappear into the deep darkness of the forest. Whichever reference you prefer, The Woodsman is symbolized here by a rustic, textured pattern that is
simple knit and purls in this unisex sweater.
This pattern is also available as part of the Legendary Knits, volume 1, collection.
