The Rain Must Fall Shawl
THE RAIN MUST FALL SHAWL
Rain Must Fall was inspired by the challenges of 2020, and the hope we all share for better days ahead. Until then, if too much rain has been falling in your life, I invite you to cast on this relaxing and intuitive shawl, and to remember, into each heart some tears must fall, but some day the sun WILL shine :)
YARN
The Loving Path Fibre Arts Nova Fingering (100% Organic Non-Superwash Merino Wool; 420 yards 385 meters / 115 grams).
C1: 1 skein in “Simon”.
C2: 1 skein in “Tea Season”.
OR approximately 800 to 840 yards (730 to 770 meters) of a similar fingering weight yarn. Sample shawl used ~ 95 grams of C1 and ~ 80 grams of C2.
NEEDLES
One 40” (100 cm) circular knitting needle size US 4 (3.5 mm)—or desired length to comfortably accommodate a large number of stitches.
GAUGE
Before Blocking: 28 stitches / 39 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette/Slip Stitch Pattern.
After Blocking: 20 stitches / 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Stockinette/Slip Stitch Pattern.
Note: Although gauge is not critical for this project, deviating from the pattern gauge will affect your total yardage requirements.

Rain Must Fall is a symmetrical triangular shawl, worked from the top down. Directions are provided in both chart and written form; follow whichever method you prefer.
