The Peace Pillow
I designed “The Peace Pillow” knitting pattern for dear family friends. I picked the light tan and soft white color combination to fit with their neutral decor. However, this pillow would look great knit with any number of color combinations. How about red and white for the holidays!
This pillow is knit with super bulky weight yarn and big needles so it knits up very quickly.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on stitches, knit and purl confidently, read a color knitting chart for the peace design, knit with two colors using the intarsia technique, bind off stitches, sew up simple seams and weave in ends.
This is a two-color knitting pattern using the intarsia technique. Experience with intarsia knitting highly recommended! Instructions for intarsia knitting are NOT included in the pattern.
Detailed, step-by-step finishing instructions with close-up photos included in the pattern.
This pattern is written in standard U.S. knitting terms.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
US Size 13 needles (or size to obtain gauge).
170 yards of Super Bulky weight yarn for main background color.
30 yards of Super Bulky weight yarn for “peace” design.
12” x 16” pillow form
I used Loops & Threads “Cozy Wool” super bulky yarn in the colors ‘Mushroom’ (light tan) and ‘Fleece’ (soft white). This is a nice, economically priced yarn. I used a basic, inexpensive pillow form.
