The Not-Just-For-Chemo Reversible Cloche
I designed this for a chemo cap challenge on my blog, to supplement all the great patterns people design and knit for this purpose, and realized it looks good on women with hair as well. It’s super soft, and can be worn stocking-stitch in for bonus soft, and it hides the hair and eyebrow areas while showcasing a girl’s eyes. There’s a gap at the back of the brim to let a ponytail through too, if you’ve got one.
Update October 11 2009:
It suddenly occurred to me that another way to finish this hat, if you don’t need the gap in the back, is to put the gap over one eyebrow and tack it up from there. I’ve posted some pictures of how that can look, in case anybody else wants to try it… kind of reminds me of something I saw in a Myrna Loy movie once :^)
Another tip: if you poke the yarn through the button first and the hat second, you thread the button through the brim wherever you please, then tie the strands in a bow on the inside to secure it. Makes it very easy to rearrange the placement to match your mood!
CORRECTION January 2, 2010
The “Body of Hat” instructions specify knitting until the hat measures 6” from the inside edge of the brim - in fact, it should be 4” from the inside edge (it’s 6” from the outside edge.) I will be uploading a corrected pattern as soon as possible!
