This is the introduction to a series of patterns for a knitted box, shaped like a book, which opens to reveal a detailed Christmas scene.
This pattern shows you how to cover pieces of plastic canvas with knitting to make the book covers and the inner box that becomes the room. Patterns for all the furniture and other things will be published daily in December 2016.

The finished book measures 23 cm, 20 cm wide and 10 cm deep (9 × 8 × 4”) when closed. The covers are knitted with DK weight yarn, the furniture and decorations use a combination of DK and thinner 4 ply yarns; a detailed materials list is given in this first pattern.
