Yarn Requirements: Choose a worsted weight wool, mohair or alpaca yarn that felts well. Bleached white yarns do no felt and many off white yarns do not felt well, if at all. It is very important to test felt a sample of your yarn.
Yardage: About 450 yards for a solid color bear.
For a bear with clothes, the following amounts: Head and hands: 110 yards. Coat: 160 yards. Pants or legs: 75 yards. Boots or shoes: 40 yards. Felt hat: 100 yards.
Needles: For bear, straight needles in size 10.5 (7 mm). For hat, a 16” circular and a set of double pointed needles in size 10.5 (7 mm).
