This lovely cowl will keep your neck warm while not being too heavy. If it’s really chilly, it can double as a hood! This can be very handy when you’re out for a walk and a breeze comes up.

The title of the pattern comes from what is probably my most favorite movie ever--The Lion in Winter. If you haven’t seen it--you should!! It’s wickedly funny and incredibly moving at the same time. Katherine Hepburn won an Oscar for her portrayal of the redoubtable Eleanor of Aquitaine.

The design features soaring arches and rose windows. The lace is simple. Beads could be substituted for the bobbles. If you prefer to do the cowl in one yarn, it should work nicely in about 400 yards of DK.
