This is a reconstruction of a 17th Century purse found by my Grandfather in law in Shetland in 1952. The pattern gives two versions - 1 with the original gauge and one with an easier gauge to achieve. The finished purse measures 13cm/5.25” by 9.5cm/3.75”.

The purse begins with an interested cast on technique that results in built in loops. This is illustrated with photos.
