The Grinch
Here is a pattern I wrote in 2010 for a special Christmas knitting club on the theme of the “Grinch”, a Dr. Seuss character I absolutely love! The movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” based on this novel and featuring Jim Carry as the Grinch is a classic at home: it’s a favorite that I enjoy watching every year during the holiday season. I am happy to offer you a revised version of the
In addition to the knitting pattern, you will need the following materials to knit Grincheux socks :
YARNS
BIS-SOCK 85% merino sw, 15% nylon; 400 m / 100 g one 100g skein shown in Self-Striping Autorayante™ Grincheux (A)
KID SILK 75% kid silk, 25% mohair; 210 m / 25 g one 25g skein shown in Van Gogh or any equivalent yarn (ex : Katia Concept - 50 mohair shades) about 80 meters of a matching color (B)
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
Circular or DPN’s needles of 2.5 mm; #US-1.5 (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Tapestry needle
GAUGE : 32 stitches and 40 rounds = 10 cm in stockinette stitch.
SIZE : adult one size (foot length is adjustable)
NOTES : This model is knitted from the ankle to the tip of the foot with a short-row heel. To give it a festive Dr. Seuss look, I chose to create looped ribs that are worked with A and B together (held double), a garter stitch heel and a toe that bends upwards!!
