Mr February’s pattern was inspired by the film, Gladiator. He may have fought long, hard campaigns in distant lands, but he’s done it with warm hands. Be ready for your next conquest with these firm knit gloves. The Gladiator gloves are worked flat, sewn up at the sides and the thumb is picked up and worked in the round with dpns.

These gloves are knit with a very firm gauge and feel very comfortable to wear. The pattern is written in one size as they will fit most adult hands, but instructions are given for a simple adaptation for an unusually small or large hand.
These gloves can be knit from 1 skein of Cascade 220, so they’re great for using up that odd skein in your stash or for gift giving.

They are knit starting with the wristband from side to side, the hand sts are then picked up from the edge of the wristband and the hand is worked upwards. The hand band is then joined to the live hand sts as it is worked from side to side and finally the thumb is knit in the round on dpns and includes short rows for shaping. There is a very small amount of sewing in the side seam.
