Notes:
This pattern is a basic mitten. It is started from the cuff. A thumb gusset is worked and those stitches are placed on waste yarn or stitch holder.
One can alter the mitten size buy changing gauge. More stitches per inch will result in smaller mittens.
It includes two options for the cuff. (Option Two is shown.)
Option One is a standard cuff which has the most flexibility and needs a stretchy cast on. (If I lived in a colder area I would use this option to stuff my coat into the cuffs of my mitts.)
Option Two is a closer fitting cuff and it is shown with a long tailed cast on. (This cuff is great for preventing damp from getting into my coat and I prefer this for a rainy Oregon winter.)
