The dress that didn’t grow up.
In the whimsical world of knitting, sometimes our projects take on a life of their own. When I first embarked on creating this pattern, my goal was to craft a stunning dress. Yet, as fate would have it, a shortage of yarn led to a charming twist in this journey, giving rise to the name “The Dress That Didn’t Grow Up.”
But I am not one to be discouraged easily. Determined to bring the dress vision to life, I persisted and, in due course, not only a delightful dress but also a chic cropped sweater. Along the way, I expanded the pattern to offer two distinct sleeve options, two captivating necklines, and even the option for embroidery.
With this versatile pattern, the possibilities are boundless. You can knit a range of cozy sweaters that effortlessly blend into your wardrobe, tailor-made to suit your unique style. This garment is worked from the top down. First, you knit the back and leave the stitches on hold. Then you pick up stitches on the back shoulder and knit the right front and left front separately. You join the front and continue knitting for the armhole length. Then, you join the front and back together and knit the body in the round. Stitches are picked up at each armhole for the sleeves, which are then worked in the round.

This sweater is designed to be slightly oversized, with approximately 6-7 inches (15-17 cm) of positive ease around the bust.

Kleita, kas nepieauga.
