The Care Package
Pattern Description
Karen’s daughter, Katie, was attending sleep-away camp for the first time. Karen, remembering how much she loved going to camp every summer, knew Katie was going to have the time of her life. A typical preteen, Katie was very concerned about how to accessorize her bed and her area in her bunk. She “needed” the perfect sleeping bag and a fun-colored trunk. Karen wanted to give Katie an early care package, so she decided to knit Katie a pillow that coordinated with her camp stuff. She chose to knit in double cotton chenille in this simple four-quadrant intarsia pattern with colors to match Katie’s sleeping bag. Katie wrote home to report that her bunkmates were jealous and wanted pillows of their own.
