Need a hat for a big guy you can knit in a flash? Try this one knit from the bottom up using a super bulky weight yarn (about 70-80 yards) and a size 11 - 16” circular knitting needle. Only 36-40 rows unless you need a longer hat. Finished size is 24” around unstretched x 9” tall. The sides of the hat are knit in a diagonal stitch pattern in knits and purls or you can knit it in plain stockinette or substitute the stitch pattern of your choice. Two options are given for knitting the top of the hat -- 1. is a more gathered top that doesn’t require double points or 2. has more traditional decreases worked with dpns or a long circular in magic loop. There is a matching scarf to go with this hat.
