This shawl started with the yarn: I saw Crooked Kitchen Yarn’s Toxic Moxie colourway and immediately thought of an orchard, with glossy red and green apples, crimson pears, and fallen leaves dotted with brown and black, a sign that winter isn’t far off. This pattern is worked from end to end, alternating sections of garter stitch and Irish mesh. I chose to add tassels, because I thought they had an autumn–ish feel to them, but you may opt to leave them off. Or you could add fringe down one side. Just be sure to reserve enough yarn to complete your desired embellishments.

The sample shawl was worked with Crooked Kitchen Yarn’s Merinoh! Fingering Singles (100% Superwash merino, 465 yards/115 grams) in the Toxic Moxie colourway.

Skill Level
Advanced beginner: this pattern uses k, kfb, k2tog, slipped stitches, yarnover stitches
