Granny squares are always a good idea, and the only thing better is using them to make a bag!

“Abuelita” is a cute way of saying “granny” in Spanish, so it’s the perfect name for this adorable bag. Its versatile size means that it makes a great accessory for children and an eye-catching carry-all for adults, too, perfect for toting around your daily essentials and staying on-trend whilst you do it! Try using up scraps and playing with unusual colour combinations to create a truly unique bag you’ll love wearing again and again, no matter the season.

Gauge: N/A

Size: 6.5”/7” · 16.5cm/18cm

Construction: This project is made up of four granny squares that are sewn together to create the outer shell of the bag. The top of the bag is added later alongside a strap and an extra internal drawstring pouch. Afterwards we will attach a popper closure to the inside of the bag to close it up.

Yarn: One skein each of Hobbii Friends Wool in White (01), Hint of Pink (30), Mustard (28), Turquoise (94). This yarn can be substituted with any DK or Worsted-weight yarn, preferably in 100% wool, acrylic or a wool blend.

Needles/Hooks: 3.5mm, 4.0mm and 7.00mm crochet hooks.
Notions: Yarn needle, a stitch marker, scissors, a tape measure, a popper fastening (optional).
