Tenkai - turn in Japanese - is a sideways sock. I love the reversible socks in hand-dyed yarn because they are charming on both sides of Stockinette Stitch. So I wanted to make a sideways sock with seamless toe. It is also suitable for self-striping, gradient, or space dyed. You can make fading with sock-weight yarn held double. The sock starts with Turkish Cast On, worked flat while shaping the toe and the heel. Graft the two ends together using Kitchener stitch. You can choose yarn type from sock-weight and worsted weight. Video tutorials are included.

SIZING
Choose the size of foot circumference from small (medium, large) and the size of length from short (middle). Sole length is adjustable between 19.5-23.5 cm / 8-9 1/2”. The sock sole should be 2-2.5 cm / ¾-1” shorter than your foot length.

Finished measurement: 19 (20, 21) cm / 7½ (8, 8½)”
Recommended ease: 2-3 cm / ¾-1¼“ of negative ease at foot circumference. If you have a high instep, consider taking more positive ease than suggested.

Tenkai (転回) は往復編みで横方向に編む靴下です. 手染め糸で編むメリヤス編みは表裏どちらの面も可愛いので, 横向きの靴下にもリバーシブルで使えるものが欲しくなりました. つま先をシームレスに編むので, リバーシブルで使えるようになっています. セルフストライプやロングピッチの染め糸や, グラデーションの配色などにおすすめです. 中細糸2本取りで編むとフェードカラー (fade)にも出来ます. Turkish Cast Onで作り目をして, 最後にメリヤスはぎでとじます. 糸のタイプは, 中細1本取りで作る中細糸バージョンと, 並太糸または中細2本取りで作る並太糸バージョンから選びます.
