Tavolozza is the Italian word for an artist’s palette, used to mix colours.
And this shawlette is exactly that: a palette where you can mix all the colour you want.
It is filled with possibilities and variations!

The yarn I have used originally is a treat: conscientiously sourced, crafted, and hand-dyed in Italy by Giulia and Stefania, aka Lanivendole. Giulia has her own cashmere goats and she shears them with lots of love. Stefania is an expert spinner and has a unique eye for the perfect blend.

Make your own Tavolozza and treat yourself to the perfect yarn!

Yarn
Approx 110 g , 495 m / 541 yds of any fingering-weight yarn
Sample is knit with:
MC: 50 g, 225 m / 246 yds of A Heavenly Blend by Lanivendole, 50% Aquilana Wool, 25% Italian Alpaca, 25% Italian Cashmere. Colourway Avena
CC1, CC2, CC3: 20 g each, 9o m /98 yds of A Chic Blend by Lanivendole, 60% Brogna Wool, 20% Italian Alpaca, 20% Italian Mohair. Colourways: CC1 Senape, CC2 Burrasca, CC3 Sartía

Needles
150 cm / 59” circular needles to obtain the correct gauge
Sample used 3.5mm/US4
You will also need bigger needle to bind off. For the sample I used 5mm/US8

Gauge
21 sts and 26 rows over 10cm / 4” in stockinette stitch, severely wet-blocked.
Gauge is crucial for this project, as it will determine yarn usage and final measurements

Skills needed
Casting on, knitting, purling, basic increases and decreases, German short rows (fully explained), binding off

Final measurements
Wingspan, 101 cm / 40”, width 36 cm / 14”
