When I was designing this shawl, the knotty mesh reminded me of spider webs strung between tree branches. The shawl’s stripes alternate between textured bamboo stitch in the main color and garter rows framing lacy mesh in the contrasting colors.
Tangled Web is an asymmetrical triangular shawl knit on the bias from one tip to the opposite edge. The shawl grows one stitch every row along the top edge and decreases one stitch every four rows along the bottom.
Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl.
The pattern has instructions for two sizes. Both shawls are worked the same, but the smaller size transitions to the garter stitch edge earlier than the larger one.
Knitters may also experiment with using a lighter or heavier weight yarn and a different needle size.
Please note that changing the size of the shawl will affect the amount of yarn needed.
All instructions are written and charted.
