This square Shetland-style shawl was inspired by the seas surrounding Alaska, and the whales that migrate there in the spring. The corner motifs represent a whale’s tail, while the border and edging dance with ocean waves and sea spray. The garter stitch center begins and ends with a single stitch, then the border stitches are picked up. The attached edging means you don’t have to bind off an endless number of stitches. Simply add on rows one at a time around the border.
